Born and raised in Southern California, Chandra has always been service oriented and dedicated to a life of philanthropy. When younger she volunteered weekly in convalescent hospitals, youth facilities and worked for summer camps and educational programs. Her experience with the Orange County Outdoor Science School for 3 years excelled her forward and gave her the opportunity of her first supervisory and program development role, at the age of 20.

She has worked with youth from all backgrounds and socio-economic status' for more than 17 years while developing the dream of Community Inspiring Today's Youth - The CITY.

In addition, Chandra also played an integral role in the development, sustainability and structuring of state and federally funded programs and co-authored state and federal grants, resulting in grant funding of more than 13 million dollars for after school programs.

During this interview, Chandra describes their 'teach a man to fish' micro entrepreneur program for youth and demonstrates how a few dedicated volunteers can make a huge impact in the community.

She also shares the top 3 things to consider if you're looking to start a similar program in your community.  The key to remember is to get started!  These kids don't need an MBA to start a business and change their financial future...and neither do you.

Find a mentor, and some people who believe in the same mission as you, map out your idea and get going!  The best way to learn is by doing it, as Chandra proves through her success with the CITY.
